Yogurt and Moussir (Yogurt and shallots)- In Iran, shallots (an edible bulb related to the onion) are called “mousir” (موسیر), They grow wild across the Zagros Mountains in different provinces of Iran. Most of those eaten are harvested from the wild, sliced, dried, and sold at markets.

Shallots are being used in various ways, the most common being grated shallot mixed into dense yogurt, a combination served in almost every Persian restaurant when one orders grills or kebabs.
